To be lonely

My dear friend,

Let this light remind you how truly special you are. I hope you’re drawn to it–this hazy, glowing light emanating from beneath the curtain of yarn. I want you to part the wall when you feel alone; lie beneath it and stare up at its twists and turns. I want you to see what lies underneath: this beautiful, quirky, honest, raw, talented, persistent, absolute jewel of a human being.

This yarn is a wall, a barrier separating the beauty of the light from the viewer. But, it’s transparent, not opaque; because barriers are just that, barriers. Not the end of the road, but something to be surmounted. It is uncomfortable, it can be heartbreaking, but open that curtain. Spread it wide for the world to see the incredible human being you are. And the key is, you don't have to share your inner soul with the whole world for them to see the beauty, it shines through no matter what. Sure it’s a little softer, but even if at times you don’t see it someone does: it’s unmistakable and it’s unconditional. Connection is not found in the appealing to others, but in the attracting of others. Because when people see that bright, ferocious light of yours, it’s impossible to turn the other way.

With all the love in my heart,

Caleb
