Grayhaven Motel Rebrand
Location: Ithaca, NY
It began with a beautiful hand-lettered logo from the 50s. Though stunning, it needed a revamp as the new young owners wanted to attract a similarly younger demographic. It did not make since either with their extremely modern values and Art Collective and Residency program. The goal was to honor the rich history of the century old once boarding school, then motel, while modernizing the brand and experience. The colors were chosen from the 50’s neon sign out front that stands at the face of the property. The F&B logo was designed from the original room key fob found in an old chest deep in the basement. This was my first experience working with a client and it was an absolute blast. I directed the selection of the paint colors for the building exterior and doors from this brand guideline and am currently working on environmental graphics for the main entry.
